Common Questions People

Ask While Looking for a church...

  • What is Sunday Morning Worship Like? Our worship begins with a musical prelude and words that call us into a spirit of worship. We also have music by our choir. One of our ministers will deliver a sermon based upon the Bible reading of the morning. We share Communion every week. It is a time when we remember the love of God given to us through Christ. Everyone is invited to participate in Communion. Most visitors find it helpful to attend church for several Sundays in order to catch the true spirit of the church.
  • What is Sunday School Like? Our church offers classes for all ages during the 9:30am Sunday School program. Our children's classes are taught by dedicated members. Our adult classes are places of learning, fellowship, and service to our community.
  • What about Children? Douglass' programs emphasize children. In addition to Sunday School classes, a special message is offered for children during the 10:50 service. Younger children then participate in "Worship and Wonder," a biblically based worship service that invites children into the wonder of the stories. The church also has an excellent nursery on Sundays and a vital youth ministry.
  • How Would You Describe the Personality of the Church? Douglass Boulevard Christian Church is a congregation that is seeking to grow in faith and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are open and welcoming to all who desire to join us on this journey. Through worship, education, fellowship, nurture, and service to the community and wider church, we strive to become a dwelling place for God. We encourage each other in discipleship, discovering and using our gifts by which the Holy Spirit brings wholeness and healing to all the world.
  • How Does A Person Join the Church? The most common way is through a transfer of membership. This is done by either coming forward after the sermon or by telling one of the ministers that you desire membership. If you have never been baptized as Christian, we ask that you make a Chrisitan confession of faith and receive baptism. You may receive baptism during a Sunday service or privately.
